The problem
Church events in Nigeria are scattered across flyers, WhatsApp groups and individual church pages. Finding what is happening this week, in your state, means hunting.
What I built
- A day strip with event counts, a city dropdown, and search by church, pastor, venue or theme.
- Big gatherings grouped by month, and weekly services shown in Lagos time.
- An interactive map of Nigeria with 37 clickable states.
- Saved events with web push reminders the day before and an hour before.
- Free event submission behind a Cloudflare Turnstile bot check.
- Sponsored ad placements targeted by state.
- An owner console: review queue, scanner, ads, posters, takedown requests and backups.
How it works
- 1
Sources
Official church pages every 3 hours; web search by state and named ministers every 6 hours.
- 2
Scanner
Reads the pages using the Anthropic API.
- 3
Proof check
Auto-publishes only if the quoted proof and the year are on the source page.
- 4
Review queue
Everything else goes to a human, labelled Verified, Single source or Unverified.
- 5
Published
Visitors see the event; page text can never publish anything.
The craft
A full-screen animated canvas sits behind every page, cycling three scenes every 24 seconds: the Cross in falling rain, the Risen Christ before the empty tomb, and the Ascension. The palette fades to match. Guards cap pixel density and frame rate on phones, and pause when the tab is hidden.
